What kind of a movement has the time? Does it have an absolute movement form? Can this movement be described in a certain way?
When we begin to think on these questions about time and its movement, there comes lots of another questions by about relationships of the notions “past”, “present” and “future”.
In this work, the flow of the time is not taken in a linear way. In every moment, it gains new shapes again and again. It builds a network if we look to time as a notion from an higher perspective. We can see that this small unique shapes of moments are formed in a web of time. It has not a certain direction in its movemet: it flows, jumps and breaks etc. At this point, where are past, present and future positioning?
In every moment, the present time is transforming into past. In addition to this, every new sight from any moment to past and future become different. Because our perception changes in every moment: it takes form with our experiences which involves the layers of memories and manner which is being affected from outher paramaters. When viewed from this aspect, we can accept that present is a fulcrum in time-network and the “present moment” is changing the past and the future in every step. That’s why, the network which involves present, past and future can not be constant, it is dynamic.
The perception of “future” and the future expectations are built with the whole of the data which comes from past and the moment we are in. Thats why these expectations are as dynamic as the moment is.
On the other hand, we can say that the past, the history changes also with the same speed as present and future because our changing perception in every moment. The history is written and remembered different by every particular person in every different moment of her/his. (There are lots of conditions: the effect of the place, the physical and emotional state, the accumulation of subjective memory and subconcious etc. of the person)
The dynamic “present-moment” as variable determiner of past and future is the main point of the work. There is a box, in which you can find a screen with a display in loop and to mirrors positioned with a ninety-degree angle to the screen in the left and right side of the screen. The object (person) has a movement in the screen.
If we come closer to the box we can see two reflections in two sides: now the past is reflecting the movement of present and the future is reflecting the movement of future.
And if we come more closer we can see two reflections more in the left and right side: the past is reflecting the future movement and the future is reflecting the past movement.
So as close we look at the box, the past and the future will be revealed as the reflection of the other one. The future is formed from the past. Similar way, the past is being changed from the possibilities of the future and they both include the other ones.
